Here Are 5 Ways You Can Be Successful At Embracing Changes
We are all aware that change is hard right? Why? Well, for one, it is hard because we are creatures of habits, regardless if that habit is good or bad for you.
I believe change is good, and we can be successful at embracing changes if we approach change as a challenge, rather than with fear.
It doesn’t matter if you are going through a small change or a big one, doing something totally different than you are used to can be terrifying.
I personally love structure, and since change represents uncertainty it can be hard to welcome it. It is easy to stay in your comfort zone, remain happy with what you are accustomed to, and can control right?
Resistance to change and uncertainty often makes things worse. To be able to adapt to change is both a survival skill and a success skill.
If you want to be successful at embracing changes in your daily life, see change as a breath of fresh air! This will help you push through and move forward.Embrace change. Why Do We Consider Change A Bad Thing?
We have all high expectations for our families, business, career, friends and relationships. As we know, most don’t remain constant or last forever. That would be unrealistic and could leave us feeling sad, hurt, and disappointed.
As we go through our day-to-day routines, and through life’s seasons we will notice change everywhere. Or moods go from happy to sad, lonely to content. Our friendships and relationships get stronger or become distant, our bodies change. We adapt to new technology, travel, meet new people, experience new cultures.
Our experiences in life changes who we are.
So why do we consider unplanned and unexpected changes a negative? Because we worry about and fear the unknowmn. The sooner we learn how to adapt to the constant changes life throws at us, the better we will be at accepting them. In turn we are become successful at embracing changes in all areas of our lives.
The great news is that embracing change is that it’s an easy skill to learn.
Here are five ideal reasons embracing change is a good habit to adopt.
1. Be Open To Moving Backwards In Order To Move Forward
What does that mean? Let me break it down for you like this. Ever seen an athlete compete in high jump? What do they do? They walk backwards away from the bar, then run towards it to take the leap. Without going backwards first, they could not jump high enough to reach success. ( Useless fact: The standing high jump is no longer popular, but was an athletics event featured in the Olympics from 1900 to 1912).
Finding new and better ways to do things, even if you have to go backwards first, can have an effective and positive end result. To have the success we want in life, we sometimes have to do things that are completely opposite of what we know. Nothing worth having in life comes without some type of sacrifice.
Have you ever felt as if you are backtracking and heading in the wrong direction?
I’ve never driven backwards from my home to work, but I can only image how complicated and tough it would be. What I have learned is not to worry about the things beyond my control, and you shouldn’t either. The universe is preparing you for something greater.
2. Embracing Change Will Help You Learn More About Yourself
When I committed myself to embark on this journey of self-discovery and personal growth, it completely changed my outlook on life, and the way I saw myself. I enjoy aligning my life and work with what is essential.
The ability to be mindful in every moment, gives you a better insight on what you need and want in life. In turn, to live a more fulfilling, successful life. I was able to take full control of mine, and you can too.
If you find yourself saying “ I will never change” or “ things will never change” then it might be helpful to analyze why your thoughts and attitude towards change are so negative. To truly understand what is happening, dive beneath the surface and go deep. When you return to the surface, you may have a little more insight on the steps you need to be successful at embracing changes.“The outcome is not up to you. The outlook is.” ― Germany Kent #itsyourlife #slay #changeisgoodClick To Tweet
Let go of the negativity and alter your consciousness to allow more of the good to come in. Life gives us more options when we are aware of what our needs are. You will find out what you can handle and what you can’t, which helps you to figure out a better path to take in life.
One of the most tremendous obstacles to change is lack of truth. Be brutally honest with yourself so you can be successful at embracing changes that come your way.
3. Opportunity Will Come A Knockin’
Another great reason to look forward to change is that change will present opportunities to you. Providing you with more choices in life about all situations.
You are not forced to make a decision as you have the control, and not a sudden change forcing you to adapt. Take advantage of the opportunities that come your way, as real opportunities are the ones that we don’t immediately see.
They come by at the most unexpected, inopportune, times. Our attitude when opportunity presents itself determines whether that opportunity will make our lives better.“Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.” – Thomas EdisonClick To Tweet
When we do see opportunities, we often ignore them, or reduce the value of what is presented to us. Our attitude when opportunity presents itself determines whether that opportunity will make our lives better.
For example, when you are reading a book, you may miss the big insight on the first reading. By the third reading, of the book that same insight might suddenly click, simply because you are in a place where you can appreciate it.

What Signs Am I Missing?
How many times have you been offered a new job, to go out on a date, or even to go skydiving? How many times have you said no? Probably more times than you have said yes. Saying yes to opportunities can be a determining factor in terms of successful at embracing changes.
We can miss out on opportunities because they often don’t look, feel, or sound the way we might imagine they would.
Let’s go with this scenario. You imagine yourself walking down the street on the Upper East Side. A TV show is currently filming and asking random people to answer ONE question for A MILLION DOLLARS – CASH! The odds of that ever happening, and you answering the question right is 1 in 292.2 million. – Still a chance right? Wrong.
How about this one? A job offer is made to you at a startup company that employs less than 100 people. The position pays an OK salary, with the opportunity to grow into your dream job. Do you take it, or find a job you don’t want to do at a different company that pays a great salary?
Whatever choice you make, think about how you would feel if the first company turns out to be the next Facebook, or Twitter. Even a few tenths of a percent of the company, will go a long way when you are splitting up billions.
Evaluate your opportunity based on its potential to make you successful.
Start Taking Chances And Enjoying Success
Risk-taking is scary, some of them definitely are. To achieve anything in life, we need to take chances. The beauty of taking chances, is that anything can happen. You might fall, get hurt, or be embarrassed, but what if it could change your life forever?
By taking opportunities you can change from wondering to knowing. You can feel at ease knowing you took the chance at the opportunity – not knowing what the outcome would be.
Is there an opportunity knocking at your door? Answer it with a ‘yes’.

4. Change Will Help You Step Out Of Your Comfort Zone
To go somewhere you’ve never gone, you must do something you’ve never done. In order to reach your full potential, you need to step out of the routines you are used to.
It is easy to be successful at embracing change with open-mindedness. Fall into an uncomfortable situation? It won’t matter because you will know how to deal with it.
Can we ever have life completely figured out? Nope. That’s a good thing. Yet, nothing should stop your from looking forward to exciting things coming your way.
I once was a people pleaser. People pleasers are one of the nicest and most helpful people you will ever know. Why?
The word “no”, is not a part of their daily vocabulary.
It was difficult to step out of my comfort zone. To look deep within to discover that this was a symptom of a deeper issue. Self-value and self-worth. Or rather, the lack of it.
People pleasing and kindness are not the same. I needed to make a change, and to give up the bad habits that were robbing me of mental strength.
Dealing with OCD, I love a super organized life. Sudden changes in plan often left me in panic and anxiety attacks.
It took a long time to learn and accept that change will be here, no matter how much I resisted or avoided it.
I had to leave my uncomfortable place to increase my acceptance to change, and decrease anxiety. Of course, this will take time, years, but I don’t mind being a work in progress.
What I did was simple…
- Stopped apologizing for everything
- Said no when I had to
- Rebuilt my self-worth
- Avoided negative self-talk
- Learned not to be so set in my ways
- Positive thinking
- Set clear boundaries

5. Change Makes You More Compassionate
Change reminds us to be better and do better. It reminds and inspires you to keep up a positive attitude towards life. When you raise your levels of empathy and compassion, you are more open to listening and understanding.
Empathy is a quality that is integral to most people’s lives. The higher your level of compassion and empathy, the easier it is to cope with life’s ups and downs.
As time goes by, embracing changes will come to you automatically. Even when it is a tough change. You will grow to become the best version of you. It easy to lose sight of the feelings of others when there is so much going on in our lives.
Change comes in many forms in our daily lives. It has helped me become kinder, more cooperative, flexible and vulnerable. Do you see differences between yourself and others in regards to willingness to change?
And there you have it. Five simple and ideal reasons that can help you to be successful at embracing changes.
Commit To Self-Love And Allow Change To Bring Positive Things Into Your Life
Embrace change. Be brave enough to take chances. You have the ability to tell your brain what to do, therefore, you can decide what you classify as negative.
This does not mean bad experiences you have had are now OK. You can learn how to filter mainly positive thoughts through your mind the next time something sad happens. In essence, you are training your brain to approach difficult situations with a positive attitude, and not a sad, miserable, defeated and negative one.
